Hotel Doolin is Ireland's firstcarbon neutral certified hotel located in the coastal village of Doolin, Co. Clare, and is a Calor BioLPG customer. Hotel Doolin highlights all that the cultural village of Doolin has to offer in a sustainable way, with Green Manager Áine Martin leading the Hotels continuous transition to more environmentally friendly operations.
Recently, Hotel Doolin has been recognised and celebrating its hard work in creating a sustainable business. Within the last month, Hotel Doolin took home three awards at the 2022 Green Awards. The Hotel and team were recognised as the Green Business of the Year, Green Medium Sized Organisation of the Year and won The Green Tourism & Entertainment Award.
Transitioning to Calor BioLPG was one of the ways in which the hotel sought to enhance their energy efficiency and reduce their carbon emissions. Hotel Doolin made the switch to Calor BioLPG, our certified renewable energy, in a move to creating a wider focus on more sustainable operations.
The eco-boutique hotel offers 17 modern and stylish bedrooms and the Piper’s Chair Houses are only a stroll away for visitors who prefer a self-catered experience, encased in culture and local traditions. To bring the village to life on a plate, Hotel Doolin uses local produce to create the very best dining experience for guests, which further helps them in creating a sustainable community and enhances their environmental awareness.
Hotel Doolin is a driver of sustainable change in the local area and has put in a number of initiatives to decrease their impact on the environment. Hotel Doolin has committed to planting 10 native trees for every wedding booked at the location, as well as only providing compostable disposables and separating waste at the hotel to ensure only non-recyclable/non-compostable materials are sent to landfill.
With its extraordinary location and stunning views, Hotel Doolin is the perfect stay for visitors who want to immerse themselves in Irish landmarks, adventure and culture. Beautiful sights such as the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren are close by to the village of Doolin, which also holds culture and music close to its heart.
Hotel Doolin is also a member of the Green Hospitality Programme, which is sponsored by Calor Ireland, and aims to create a network of local enterprises that promote sustainable tourism is the Burren and surrounding areas.
The Hotel has shown a strong commitment in continuing to lead in sustainable change over the years, and in 2018, the Marquee in the Hotel was replaced with the new Eco-Barn, which is a fully sound-proof, A-rated building with sustainable heating and a cooling system. The hotel also has an “adopt a hedgerow” initiative, which involves staff choosing an area of the local road, cleaning out the hedgerow and participating in village clean-ups, further encompassing the local area with ways to be environmentally aware and friendly.
