The sports enthusiast has a range of options, including swimming, surfing, diving, kayaking and fishing. The region is also home to some of the best golf courses in Ireland, most notably Lahinch, a former Irish Open venue.
Sustainability is at the core of the Falls Hotel’s operations. The hotel was awarded the carbon neutral status by Green Hospitality Ireland for eliminating its carbon output over a five-year period. In December 2018, the hotel finished the construction of its very own hydro-electric turbine, located in the local river Inagh. This harnesses the power of nature to provide renewable electricity around the hotel.
To further enhance energy efficiency and to reduce their carbon emissions, The Falls Hotel made the switch to Calor BioLPG, our 100% renewable energy in March 2021. Switching to Calor BioLPG was one of the final sustainability changes made before receiving the Carbon Neutral Certification. Holiday-goers can enjoy the facilities of the hotel includingthe spa and leisure centre which is powered by Calor BioLPG.
Throughout the hotel, a number of additional sustainability initiatives have been implemented such as using compostable cups and straws, encouraging guests to contribute to the hotel’s sustainable practices with a recycling bin in each hotel room, and an onsite charging facility for electric vehicles.
Furthermore, the hotel has planted 350 trees on its stunning woodland grounds to offset carbon emissions. Guests of the hotel have the opportunity to offset their own carbon emissions by planting their own tree making their stay at the Falls Hotel carbon neutral.
Speaking about the hotel’s green credentials, Sharon Malone, Marketing manager said; “We are very proud of our sustainability journey and for receiving the prestigious Carbon Neutral certificate from Green Hospitality Ireland. Our recent switch to Calor BioLPG was one of the final changes we made before receiving our certificate and was an important part of our journey. The support we received from the Calor sales team has been amazing and we are absolutely delighted that our spa and leisure centre now operates on renewable gas”
