Calor in Community

We value local communities and we want to make a difference.

Calor has been part of the local community in rural Ireland for over 80 years. Local communities are at the heart of our business and through our community engagement, corporate giving and employee volunteering initiatives, we want to make a difference, no matter how small.

Calor understands the importance of social responsibility and the power behind our employee network across the country.

Our Corporate Giving and Employee Volunteer Programmes align with charitable organisations and local community initiatives that share our corporate values:

• Caring
• Seamless
• Sustainability
• Leading
• Local
• Safely

Ensuring that we monitor our performance and impact against agreed  key performance indicators across our community programmes, allows Calor to drive continuous improvement and strive to increase our impact year on year.

Charity Partner

In September 2020, Calor announced its first charity partnership with Samaritans Ireland. Samaritans was chosen by Calor employees, following an extensive selections process which considered a number of leading charities.

Samaritans Ireland handles around half a million calls in a year from people across the island of Ireland, answering more than 1,000 calls on any given day.  Every 49 seconds, someone contacts Samaritans in Ireland.  The Samaritans free helpline is 116 123.

As a direct result of the new partnership with Calor, Samaritans can answer over 4,000 additional calls to their helpline This support could save people’s lives and change countless others for the better.

Calor works closely with heating installers and other small businesses across Ireland to help them meet the needs of their customers. Self-employed tradesmen are a particularly vulnerable group in terms of mental health.  This sad statistic resonated strongly with the Calor team, knowing the pressure that many small-business owners face, now more than ever.  Calor will  promote  Samaritans Ireland contact details to heating installers, partners and customers across their social media platforms.

Furthermore, through employee engagement, Samaritans can provide training to Calor employees to be active listeners.  This will enable employees to become sensitive to the needs of others and make a difference to a colleague at a time of need.
